A nostalgic project with purposeful restraint

As a personal favorite from college days, designing Pempek Kenari BSD was both an honor and a milestone. The goal was to evolve the space into a cozier dining experience—without over-polishing its humble charm. STEKRI approached the project with a restrained design language: bold red tones, playful accents, and custom patterns inspired by Palembang’s traditional cloth. This visual identity bridges cultural heritage and modern hospitality, aligning the space with the brand’s affordable, familiar roots.

Balancing culture, comfort, and brand identity

The interior features a clean layout with soft ambient lighting and subtle material contrasts. Custom wallpaper inspired by traditional songket adds personality without overwhelming the space. We avoided luxury finishes in favor of approachable, textural elements that reflect the brand’s everyday accessibility. This rebranding demonstrates STEKRI’s ability to modernize F&B interiors while preserving cultural essence—creating designs that feel current, connected, and memorable.
